our story
How we started...
Up$cale Re$ale was established in 1995 by my mother, Vera. My parents have been blessed with the opportunity to travel a lot, and Mom always checks out the consignment and thrift stores anywhere they go. It was always her dream to have her own store someday.
I worked for her, along with my sister-in-law, Anita, for many years. Things could get pretty exciting since not only did Mom get to spend the day with her daughters, but also with some of her grandchildren as well. Anita and I brought our small children to work with us each day, and though it was a challenge at times, we wouldn’t have had it any other way.
We soon outgrew our first location and built our existing building exclusively to house Up$cale Re$ale. In 2001, Mom decided to retire, and I took over the business. Around the same time, Anita gave birth to her third child and decided to stay home. I went from sales clerk to owner and operator, and it was time to hire some outside help. My daughter, Karlee, who has been our best sales person since she was tall enough to reach the counter, can run the store with her eyes shut. Now she is married and working as an engineer, but still helps out at special sales and events. Both of my sons also worked at the store during their high school and college years.
God has truly blessed me over the years with some outstanding employees.
I’ve seen young ladies and men graduate high school, go through college, get married, begin a career, and start their families. I think of them all as my own. We all have a strong spiritual background and are not ashamed of it.
I’m thankful to my Lord and Savior who has always provided and allowed me to continue living my dream and enjoying every minute of my job. He has also sent me the best employees over the years that I love deeply and depend on greatly. I hope that each of you will take time out of your busy day and stop in to say “Hi”!
